Alliance Cinema Backs David Mamet’s ‘Speed The Plow’ & Lines Up Brazilian YA Adaptation ‘Diary Of A Weird Girl’

Deadline also announced that we secured the exclusive worldwide adaptation rights to Thalita Rebouças’ beloved Brazilian YA novel, Diary Of A Weird Girl, published by HarperCollins Brazil, which we are developing into a YA TV series.

‘Lord Of The Rings’ Producer Lines Up New “Large-Scale” Fantasy Movie ‘Wars Of The Drakons’
DEADLINE announces that
Oscar-winner Barrie M. Osborne, one of only three producers credited with producing each of the original Lord Of The Rings movies, is lining up a new ambitious fantasy project called Wars Of The Drakons.
The U.S. vet, also known for producing Face/Off and as an executive-producer on The Matrix, The Great Gatsby, The Meg and the live-action Mulan, is set to produce the movie alongside Jeanette B. Milio and Jim Milio of My Big Fat Greek Wedding outfit Alliance Cinema.
Wars of the Drakons: The Seer’s Prophecy, which is conceived as the beginning of a franchise, is “set in the war-torn world of Aerion, where kingdoms battle for power with the aid of Drakons — formidable dragon-like creatures possessing extraordinary supernatural abilities. At the center of the story is legendary warrior and Drakon master Kale D’Sar, whose loyalty to a ruthless king is shattered when a mysterious Seer reveals a prophecy: the King’s own daughter, Princess Kahrie, is destined to become a great warrior, unite the divided kingdoms of Aerion, and ultimately bring an end to his brutal Blood Regime. When the King moves to eliminate the child, Kale becomes part of a dangerous conspiracy to save her, forcing him to choose between duty, family and the future of an entire world. What follows is a sweeping journey of war, forbidden love, betrayal, magic and spectacular Drakon battles, as ancient secrets are revealed and the struggle for Aerion’s future begins.”
This large-scale fantasy adventure will combine immersive world-building with emotionally driven storytelling and have broad international appeal.

Barrie is one of the industry's most accomplished producers, best known for producing Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, including The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, for which he received the Academy Award® for Best Picture. His remarkable career also includes such major productions as The Matrix, The Great Gatsby, Face/Off, and Mulan.
Bringing Barrie's extraordinary experience in producing ambitious, large-scale, internationally successful films to Wars of the Drakons represents an important milestone for the project.
Based on a script by talented newcomer writer and producer Carla Romero, Wars of the Drakons is being developed with Academy Award®-winning producer Barrie M. Osborne as an epic fantasy franchise with significant international potential.

Alliance Cinema Finances New Television Series DOG MASTERS

Dog Whisperer aired for nine seasons and was successfully distributed in more than 180 countries, becoming one of the most recognizable unscripted television franchises in the world and generating more than $80 million in revenues to date.
Now, Dog Masters brings a fresh approach to the world of dogs, their behavior, and the extraordinary relationships they share with their humans.
The new series stars Laura Nativo, known to audiences from Hallmark's Home & Family, alongside Alex Rossi, one of Brazil's leading veterinarians and animal behavior specialists.
